Announcing @cfminer - Crowd Funded Miner operating in the STEEM ecosystem

in #introduceyourself7 years ago (edited)

Hi there!

@cardboard here, creator of the @tipU service. Obviously I've got too much time so I've came up with an idea of a crowd funded mining rig that would mine crypto and pay dividends to the investors in SBD.

I really like the idea of receiving daily payouts from your investments in the STEEM ecosystem. So far the only way to invest STEEM / SBD was to delegate your STEEM POWER to voting bots or services like @smartsteem or @utopian.

So I figured out it's time to take advantage of the current SBD price pump and use it to fund crypto mining rig. The plan is to:

  1. Organize a one week fund rising in Steem Dollars for the mining rig.
  2. Exchange the SBD to fiat and buy the PC oriented for crypto mining (both CPU and GPU).
  3. Create an automated system where the mined coins are exchanged to Steem Dollars, which are then send to the investors in daily payouts.

So the account @cfminer was created today to organize the crowd funding. Some details:

  • the funding will last one week, it is possible it will end earlier if enough SBDs are gathered
  • the funding will succeed if at least 70 SBD are gathered
  • the max threshold is 300 SBD - gathering this amount of SBD will automatically end crowd funding
  • if not enough SBDs are gathered, all SBDs will be refunded to investors
  • the official start of crowd funding is tomorrow - 24.12.2017 and it will last till 31.12.2017 (if you really want to, you can already send SBD to @cfminer, automated system will confirm your investment).

Please feel free to check out 2 previous post about the idea where some questions were answered in the comments:

In the current SBD prices the expected daily return from the investment is 0.3% which means that from every SBD invested you should get 0.003 SBD daily. But if the SBD price returns to 1 USD peg, the return should be 0.03 SBD daily.

If you have any questions feel free to ask :)

Would be nice idea.
If only mining would have been profitable at all.

Where did you find information that it's not profitable? Maybe you're referring to mining bitcoin on PC.

Okay, what is your projections?
What cash flow and ROI i get in case of investing 1000 USD?

Give us numbers, please.

Mining is profitable

Ok 10 SBD sent. Here we go :)

just 53 sbd left to go to meet the min

Sent 5

Interesting idea.. and four questions:

  1. Can I send several SBD in several tranches?
  2. Is there a minimum investment?
  3. What guarantee do I have to get back the investment?
  4. Have any of the above questions been answered in the previous posts?

Number 3 is easy.. There are no guarantee's in investing, so you should never spend more than what you are willing to lose. That's why I'm starting off with a small investment of 2.717 SBD and I might do more in a couple days though.

That's reasonable.

  1. Yes
  2. No, but there's not much sense sending like 0.001 SBD
  3. Sadly none, because if the whole crypto system collapse, I can not do anything about it. Probably sell the rig to regain some of the investment.
  4. Partially :)

No, but there's not much sense sending like 0.001 SBD

Did you read my mind?;-)

I would say, the investment worth pursuing until the daily profit drops below 4$ US since its an after tax number and the objective security here to get your money back is zero (nothing personal...). If I only had more than 0.001 SBD, I would send them to you now. This way you'll have to wait a few days...

What makes you sure that the competition does not grow too big since its such a profitable business?

One more (important!!) thing: You are not the person who is also @berniesanders, are you?

What makes you sure that the competition does not grow too big since its such a profitable business?

I've been mining and observing crypto since a long time - the profitability decrases over time but not dramatically :)

Check out 30 day graph at: https://www.nicehash.com/profitability-calculator/nvidia-gtx-1080?e=0.1&currency=USD
It's quite stable.

edit: Oh my, no, why do you ask?:D

He's not trustworthy and he has multiple accounts. You never know.

I'll send 1,2SBD now and tomorrow another ~0.5SBD depending on the specific payout.

I heard hes doing a lot of flagging :)

No tipu is not berniesanders

Here some way to make the crypto mining rig more profitable/energy efficient:

For the last link: Maybe in the summertime you can heat clothes/water/food?

You have my sword :)

Sounds interesting, keep us informed and welcome!

Oh what a idea! I want in on this. Been trying to do mining on my own and hitting a lot of road blocks. Been cloud mining but really want to do more mining.

Doing it as a group definitely reduces the risk and the amount of investment required. Really wish there were more people doing investment opportunities like this on here.

This has given me the thought that anyone who wants to try should do something similar. I have been waiting to buy a new computer but never had the funds to do so. I only mined for fun but love trying out building my own and running it. @tipu had a point that with SBD valued so high it is feasible to earn enough SBD and exchange it for a computer.

Joining this group may relieve some headaches but I am interested in mining coins that have potential and not trying to earn a daily income. As a late comer to crypto I noticed that many who became millionaires in crypto started out on coins that were worth next to nothing. Now they are top in market cap. I am hoping to find a coin that would be the next 10000% gain. I may likely fail but I think this route is better for new investors than to earn a couple of dollars a day. Just my own opinion.

I get that. My main goal for investing is to get as many passive incomes as possible, I mean it would be nice to get in really early on the next big thing but I just don't think it's wise to make that you're main focus though.

Good point about the passive income. I was hoping to just try and hit a homerun rather than slow and steady earning. Thinking like a rookie crypto investor, lol.

With the daily return just buy the crypto

well you have a week to send your sbd send as many as you want any time as long as it before 12/31/2017
