Greeting Steemians from Malaysia with love

My name is Razi and this is the first time I joined Steemit community. Quite worried about what to write for the first time as I'm not really active in social media. I just graduated from an Australia University and currently working as a Data Specialist. During my studies there's been lots of ups and downs in terms of relationship, studies and life. I was with this girl for 6 years, got engaged less than a month only to found out she cheated on me. It broke my heart but instead of being depressed, I pick myself up and did lots of voluntary work. Just something to keep me busy.

One of the things I did was volunteering to be an English teacher at Sapa, Vietnam for 6 weeks. There I've met lots of new friends be it local or international. The project involved teaching English to high school students. All of them came from poor family whose parents are mostly farmers. Some of the them would stop studying after high school and their ambitions are fixed to becoming a farmer, teacher, and a tour guide. 6 weeks is a short time so I had to take the initiative to direct the lessons to focused more on work-oriented topics. We did some role-playing activities to help better understand on different types of occupation but that was about it. I wished that I could have helped them more.

After the teaching project, I’ve decided to hold a charity event for the students I've taught. The school had limited books and stationary supplies so I organized some bakery sales at my university. The respond was quite well received and we raised over $500, donated books, stationary and clothes within 3 days.

I've made great friends over the course of my studies, participated in various activities and most importantly to keep a calm and positive mindset when facing any problems. I just wished I could have done more voluntary work but now since I'm working, I would have had limited time. I do however am trying to persuade the company I work with to do some local charity work. I shall post more content on this once we've started.

Foodies Post
I'm currently working in Malaysia which is far from my home. I'll certainly post some great food content and recommend places for those coming to Malaysia for the first time. Truth be told, I'd recommend some cheap but amazing dishes as I only go to those kind of places XD.

Voluntary Work
I'm currently trying to get a position in my company to handle any voluntary work (locally in Malaysia) and would be open to any sort of ideas for a great voluntary experience. I did some few videos during my studies. You can check it here: AIESEC Vids
