Announcing The @bund Project

@bund is a Steemit oriented community project account, dedicated to augment the retention ratio of Steemit users, by way of introducing people, art, historical culture [research] to the steem blockchain, notwithstanding outreach, humanitarian and curation activities, as well as stimulating user commitment and to further fortify a coalition among Steemit users.

Reasons for its Inception

---

When you hear someone call the name Wikipedia or Wikihow, what comes to your mind? Now bear that in mind as the next question surfaces. When you hear the name Digg, what comes to your mind? Well, only a few persons would know what the latter represents. The obvious difference between the former and latter is relevance. Although, Wikipedia and Wikihow are not social media websites, yet they enjoy huge amount of traffic each day due to the nature of contents they possess.

Wikipedia and Wikihow though having their limitations, seem to have an answer to all the questions inserted in a search engine. Now, Steemit is a combination of a blockchain network, a blog and a social media website; the very first of its kind ever to exist in our planet. Imagine what a huge traffic could mean for its currency, in other word — investments. In view of the forgoing, over-descriptive research, and original contents need to be encouraged, to provoke unsurpassable relevance.

Currently, there are over 700, 000 accounts on Steemit and less than 9% of that figure consist of active users. An average of 3,000 accounts are created each day. However, with the current retention ratio, less than 270 of those users creating an account would remain active.

It can be said that Steemit recent traffic invalidates the need for outreach activities. Well, when compared to previous stats, Steemit has experienced a huge amount of increment in the creation of new accounts as a result of such activities. Contrary to that notion, it would be too early to submit to complacency, as prominent social media websites experience 100 times more inflow of new accounts. On that ground, the margin of supremacy substantiate the criticality of outreach exercises.

On the other hand, one of the several reasons why an account collapse to inactivity is as a result of insufficient engagement conditioning or a user’s inability to appertain to the presented theme in visibility. However, copacetic art and music enveloped compositions are perennially deemed as engaging, and such publications (post) merit propagation, together with cultural post.

In addition, another reason why some give up on Steemit is as a result of a lack of recognition and/or compensation. For there have been countless complaints from users, stipulating that they are discouraged to continually put enormous efforts into the concoction of luminous write-ups because they are never acknowledged. All the same, this is not to justify their reasons for succumbing to withdrawal, nor to condemn them, but to divulge the relevance of curation accounts.

For the sake of curation, distinctive accounts (@curie, @steemstem, @sndbox-alpha and @ocd) have been inaugurated to curate sophisticated and noteworthy articles, thus inspiring original authors and catalysing retention. Sometime ago, these [accounts] were just enough to curate exceptional compositions, but the recent prolific increment of Steemit users have created a window of inadequacy, thus effectuating the need for curation accounts a sine qua non.

Hence, an augmentation is indispensable.

Behind the Nomenclature

@bund is an acronym for the words Benin Uncapped. As the name implies — Benin Uncapped, it suggests that this project is not restricted to a particular activity. The word Benin is gotten from an ancient word — bini, which refers to people who were known for their artistic prowess, and are recognised for bronze sculpture, arts, craft and casting skills.

Therefore, @bund is a community project account aimed at introducing people, art and culture to the steem blockchain, but not restricted to these activities, for it has a long term prospect of curating articles that are drenched with superiority, in other words, outstanding articles.

Coincidentally, the word “Bund” possesses a dictionary meaning that conveys that a barrier or an embankment is placed to hold water back. Accordingly, it can be said that @bund [community project] is a barrier or an embankment set up to hold Steemit users back, hence preventing an evaporation.

The @bund community is also designed to foster bond or a coalition among Steemit users.

Objectives and Guidelines

In order to navigate a given territory and successfully reach one’s destination, a mental or physical map is required. In a parallel manner, for a project to be successful, clearly stated goals and objectives are integral, thus goals and objectives are the maps of promising initiatives.

The map of @bund; however, is ultimately to improve the retention ratio of Steemit users, embark on outreach activities, philanthropic exercises and curation functionality. A further disintegration encompasses the following:

• To promote Steemit in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria, and beyond.
• To acquaint new and existing users with Steemit etiquettes.
• To animate Steemit account’s engagements comprehensively.
• To encourage user commitment on Steemit.
• To establish a positive impact on the society via humanitarian activities.
• In the long run, to curate exceptional articles, thereby encouraging promising authors and original contents.
• To encourage carefully orchestrated comments via curation, thus discouraging generic comments in the long run.

Still and all, we absolutely embrace transparency to permit open critique and public application. In addition, a majority of the reward generated would be dedicated to power ups, while curation teams and contest winners would be duly compensated with the residuum.

Kick Off

This project started in Benin City a few months before the year 2017 met its end. Until now, this community has only engaged in offline exercises; reaching out to the residents of Edo state with Steemit awareness. Thereupon, this is the official kick-off. With that being said, all activities [both offline & online] accruing to this initiative is expected to commence without any delay.

For that reason, your support would be much appreciated, because collaborative efforts are required to achieve the outlined objectives of this initiative. We encourage that you support us with your nurturance. Also, feel free to share your thoughts below.
