Hi STEEMIT community! Greetings from Cape Town, South Africa
Hi everyone! I'm Bruce, and excited to start interacting on this incredible platform. I am new to cryptocurrency but the more coin pages I visit, and people I meet involved in it, the more I feel there is something very fresh and unique going on. It is fantastic to see how many of us are standing up, tired of being 'represented' by corporations, building up the world, block by block, for the benefit of humanity - not just profit!
I may be naive, but I really feel there are fantastic, talented people doing great things in many of these new coin communities, all made possible through the freedom of individuality this form of 'economic intelligence' allows.
My story is that I've been a musician for about 25 years now, and play as a freelancer currently. I love my instrument, the guitar, and have tried to develop my own sound. Recently everything has changed though. You see, I had a musical epiphany watching someone use music in a way that completely floored me. I mean I just realised what I had been aiming for all along was right there in front of me... What happened was I shadowed someone as he went through the Red Cross Children's Hospital burns unit, with his guitar and his voice... And how he managed to compose music in such a way that each child in the ward could appropriately participate, play a tambourine, tap along - and most importantly co-compose their own song, right in the moment. Pure improvisational creativity, like Jazz (or BAM), that came from within. This is music therapy.
Do you think you FEEL like making music, lying there, possibly in pain, only able to move a hand or foot?
No!
You probably want more than anything to be home, to be well, not to be in pain. But if the child is approached with an awareness and deep respect, and an implied permission that anything they feel is valid and vital - then you find the will to express these feelings wells up. And through participation there is an enlivening - so beneficial in a hospital environment. (All music therapy sessions were conducted under the supervision of the head of the unit, and remain a daily intervention at the hospital.)
So I decided to head back to school and study music therapy. I graduated this year and I make my new life from here!
I am very excited to explore the possibilities of cryptocurrency. I am here to learn, so please don't be shy to set me straight!
Before I go here is me playing some solo guitar, if you feel like chilling to a nice melody.
Have a great day!
Bruce

Welcome to the platform!
I think your musical therapy ambitions are admirable, especially if you're able to help people in hospitals. Music has power, and it's great that you're putting your talents to good use.
Your intro post is great. It tells us about you and what to expect from your posts. I really like that you posted a video of your guitar playing since you talked about it so much. Coldplay is always a good choice. I've been trying to get our band to cover "Fix You" since we started, but they haven't settled on it yet. haha
Anyhow, I give the same advice to all the new members on here, so I hope this will help you get started:
