Hi Steemers!

My name is Amanda Jane and thought it was about time I introduced myself here on Steemit!

I was brought up in South London and am a true cockney, born and bred! That’s what my mum had always told me anyway and I always wondered if it was actually true so I checked it out. I found out that the hospital where I was born opened in April 1767 as the Westminster New Lying-in Hospital on the north side of Westminster Bridge Road in Lambeth, on the outskirts of London, although it is no longer there now!

A "true" cockney is said to be someone who is born within earshot of the Bow Bells, i.e. the bells of St Mary-le-Bow church in Cheapside in the City of London, which as it turns out, I was!

Growing up I was always very musical. My nan and my dad used to take me to classical concerts when I was very young and I loved it! So when I had the opportunity at school to start having music lessons, I started off learning the recorder, then I went on to learning the cello and also the piano.

As I got older I began playing for a local amateur orchestra called the Croydon Symphony Orchestra.

We performed concerts regularly at Fairfield Halls - the above image shows the program for one of the last concerts I performed in with them. Playing with the orchestra was the most amazing experience. I totally miss those times now!

I am now busy running my own publishing company, Green Earth Publishing, which is a small independent publisher of magazines and books, covering subjects such as Ancient Civilisations, the Mind and Consciousness, Esoterica, History, Science, Physics, Self Development, Spiritual subjects, the Paranormal, and also UFO’s and Aliens! The magazines I publish are Mindscape, Paranormal and UFO Matrix magazine.

We are a very small team - there is myself and my editor Lauretta, plus a group of independent writers who contribute regularly to the magazines.

You’d be surprised at how much work is involved just putting one issue together! There is of course firstly finding good content to fill an issue, then there is the search for images to support articles which can take up a lot of time! Then there is the proof-reading, and then the laying out of the magazine itself.

Once the magazine is finally finished, it gets uploaded to a website called Magazine Cloner, and from there I then go in to complete the interactive side of the magazine to include clickable links, audio files and YouTube videos.

At the moment I am working on Mindscape Issue 12, which is almost finished now and will be available within the next few days!

Lastly would like to say that it is so awesome to be involved with Steemit and I look forward to sharing more content with you all soon.
