A regular guy
Hello Steemit!
I joined Steemit rather recently after being laid off at my tech job in Berlin. It was actually a bit of a godsend, though. At the age of 27, an American somewhat adrift in the middle of Europe, I find myself in Germany with generous unemployment benefits and plenty of time and energy on my hands to learn new things!
And so, that is why I came to Steemit. I came here to first see what all the fuss was about, but also to learn about one of the first online communities growing out of the blockchain technologies.
Rather than make this into some kind of monologue of an essay about myself, I figured I'd throw in a few pictures.
Living in Japan
I've studied Japanese since I was 17, so for the past 10 years or so. I'm a pretty voracious reader, which was actually borne out of my interest in the Japanese language and literature. Here's a summer outside my apartment in Tokyo. I also have a great little post on Tokyo recommendations here.
Living in San Francisco
I had a brief time, about 2 years, where I lived in San Francisco doing the 'tech' thing. I learned as much about myself as I did about the tech scene. And with that...I moved to Europe!
Adventuring in Europe
I've been living in Germany for the past 2 years. It was all part of a goal I made in 2015 to get EU citizenship and incorporate a lot more traveling into my life. Here is a picture of a good friend and me in Amsterdam.
I'm excited with where I'm at and look forward to getting to know all of you!

Welcome to steemit Bdeely. Hope to see more of your writing and get to know you better. I'm new as well and trying to get a feel for this. I learned about steemit on @medium.com Another single mom did write up about it, and as I'm disabled and with a lot of time on my hands, I figure why not, what's to lose? Well, I just wanted to say hello. I'm following you, so please follow back.
That is awesome. How hard was it to get a citizenship in the eu? You know asking for a friend.
Theres not such thing as an EU-citizenship, you get a citizenship in the individual country you want to live in (germany, france, netherlands, poland...). Each of them has a different set of rules.
What @mnemonic19 said is the more technically correct way of explaining it. I got Irish citizenship through my grandparents. Each country has their own system of naturalization, so you'd have to look up the rules per country.
I was considering Spain or Germany but have shifted to Argentina. With the changes here in America, I need a second passport.
I wish I had more DNA diversity to do that! I should have tried harder on that EU residency permit when I was living in Amsterdam. :P
