This is not a pipe; preserving the incognito @original works

in #introduceyourself7 years ago (edited)

Can you introduce yourself as a nobody? I've seen people hold up sign in front of their webcams to prove their legit. But what are they proving? That they're people? If it wasn't a human operating a steem account who else would it be? An intelligent hamster? Maybe even a house cat who needs the money for spleen surgery.
What else is there to prove?
Nothing to prove, Or is it that every one just wants to be acknowledged?
Acknowledged as good enough, beautiful enough,Caucasian enough, human enough. It's the same thing we see in celebrities; except a less fancy version. Its the thing that makes them dress up in ten thousand dollar dresses and still feel invisible, the thing that drives them to alcoholism, drugs and everything in between. They want to be seen a certain way, until all they are is an image. An image of a human but not a human itself. And here is where my point comes in.
This painting by Rene Magritte is called "This is not a pipe" because simply stated it is an image or a likeness of a pipe but not the pipe itself

Similarly, the people one sees on screens on the television are not people.I wouldn't be wrong if I said this isn't Ava gardner but a carefully cultivated image of Gardner.

If you ever encountered Ava in the street, or knew her personally you would find her very different. Here she is chilling in her flat .A real person, eons away from the clipped and pruned, powdered and statuesque photograph. Because that is how people are. People are people and we must forgive them for that:

Therefore, In these sickening times of overexposure incognito is the one thing that actually has value. More value than liquid gold; that is why slowly, slowly governments, institutions even the internet to some extent are trying to demolish the incognito. Because when everyone is recognized everyone is usable, everyone has a commercial value placed above their head and most importantly anyone and everyone can be demonized, if everything about them is known.
Personally, i would like to retain my incognito; maybe because I do not only want to be seen as a two dimensional image. Perhaps, because I know the true value of anonymity or because imagining a cat typing away on a laptop makes me happy. I hope imagining that makes you happy too.200_s.gif

Also, if you like my post be sure to comment. I would love being a keyboard warrior; and starting a brawl in the comment section.

New here so not very sure how things work. what will following do? and how to get upvotes?

Welcome to Steemit anonymous friend! How do you think people could present themselves authentically?

My friend your question might keep me up tonight. Anything that makes them satisfied i guess; for me, satisfaction means anonymous posting. Thanks for reviewing my post <3

No problem! Thanks for the response!

Glad your aboard the Steemit community , welcome I cant wait to see your future post's i'll be looking for em' :)

Nice to meet you. If you look around you will see a lot of great advice and ways to get noticed on here. I would first suggest checking out the FAQ and this Ettquitte Guide by @thecryptofiend

As it says in the guide, I would suggest not posting requests on other peoples posts asking them to visit your blog. First; it hurts peoples feelings because it gives out the idea you are only there to promote yourself; second, it could get you flagged as a spammer; which can hurt your reputation and block your posts from view. You are new and perhaps just following the examples of others so I would hate for this to happen to you so soon.

Lots of great ways to get noticed on here; also check out the #contest, #curation, and #steemit tags for ways to get noticed and more information on the steemit community. :)

Okay boss, thankyou so much for the advice. I didnt mean to offend anybody, if thats what youre saying. Plus, cant you invite people over? because i would like to invite people over if i like their posts. Id like to see their comments regarding what i said. IDK if you can do that. Anyways, what do you think about the post :D please and thankyou

Yes my child, you can; it is just that steemit is overrun with people saying things like "Nice post check out my post"; and are often flagged in return. I like to think most people mean the best so I respond instead of flagging them.

There is no such thing as introducing yourself as a nobody really; We are all balls of thoughts and feelings on here.

I only say the review my post line to people whose content i genuinely like because i want to start discussions. some of my posts are interactive and I really actually want to hear how people would respond. Theres a question at the end of the one i wrote just yesterday. I'm really sorry if you got offended twirble. But i like your dp and i like your comments so youre free to roam my blog posts and yes criticism is more than welcome. Tear me apart XD
