I have lurked long enough. Time to open up a bit about myself.

My name is Anne-Marie and I have no sexy photos or travel adventures to share.

This photo is from a family get together a couple of years ago. I still look pretty much the same except I've let the hair coloring grow out. I'm flaunting my silvers these days. I'll have to remember to get someone to take my picture one day soon. I'm crappy at selfies. They just feel weird to me and it shows in the photo.

My glamorous era. I've always wondered what kind of drugs was my mom on when she did my hair that day.

Some of my stats:

• Over 50
• Never married
• No children (lost a couple of pregnancies back in my twenties-one was twins)
• Yes, I have a cat. He's awesome! His name is Hobo and I have no idea why imgsafe keeps turning his photo on its side. The original photo is not on its side. You'll just have to tilt your head.
  
  He's my last one. I'm tired of cleaning litter boxes.
• Not dating. Not looking to date.
• I'm heterosexual (in case you were curious)
• I love bacon!
  
• A sense of humor is important. If you can't laugh at yourself and at life you will surely go crazy and be miserable getting there.

Current Dream

Currently my dream is to get an RV of some sort and travel the US to see the states I have not yet seen. Wouldn't that be fun? When I do this I will be able to share the adventure here on Steemit! Also I have friends scattered across the country. I think it would be a great way to visit them without imposing upon them.

Recent History

I recently spent over a decade of my life caring for my mom on her journey to death via the Alzheimer's route. It was brutal. It also kept me very tied down. My siblings live several states away so I had to be here at all times. I think that has contributed a lot to my urge to uproot and roam freely. That and the fact that I have not had a vacation since 1998 and I haven't seen the ocean since 1999. That's too damn long!

Also during this time I was a live-in house manager for over a year for a ministry helping women get out of the sex industry. My work week was 130 hrs and I averaged about one day per month off. Yes, I did sleep some each day but I did not rest. That burned me out in every way: physically, emotionally, spiritually and destroyed me financially. I'm still struggling to get and hold down a job.

But life is getting better. Nothing lasts forever – not even the crappy times.

Before my big burnout I excelled at working with trauma victims. I'm not sure when or if I will be able to do that again. I sort of feel as though I am getting to know myself all over again or maybe just on a different level. I don't really know what the heck it is! I'll let you know if I figure it out.

How the heck did I get here?

I learned of Steemit through stellabelle. Thank you @stellabelle! I have been slow and cautious about even dipping my toes in the water. Although I was here before the July 4 big event I did not post and as you can see I am just now posting my introduction. I read the philosophy of @dan and that has helped me to come out of my shell a bit.

I don't really have a clue about cryptocurrency. I guess I will learn as I need to learn. I do like the idea of a platform for freedom of speech and the possibility of some type of reward for contributing. I've been reading and voting for and sometimes responding to some very good posts.

In closing....

If I think of something exciting to add to this bio I will come back and do so.
