I'm in this marvellous community for few months already and I've also posted a short introduction when I started here, but it was rather lame ad I didn't know how to do it properly. So this is a re-introduction. And I choose to use an intetview I gave recently to a travelling magazine...

Hello! Can you introduce yourself in a few words?

Hi. I call myself amek I'm 34 years old, I'm from Czech Republic and I like to travel. My first independent travel was a road trip with my friends to Romania in 2007 and since then I'm trying to visit at least one new country every year.

How many countries have you visited so far?

I've been to 18 different countries in Europe and Asia. I'm not counting countries where I was with my parents as a kid, only those I visited as a grown up.

What is the first country you have visited?

When I was three years old I was in Iraq because my father worked there for some period of time. I did some cannabis tourism in Netherlands when I was on high school, but as I said before: my first real independent travel was to Romania.

What is the last country you have visited?

Myanmar. That's where I'm at the moment. I'm learning about Buddhism and meditate in a place called Thabarwa.

What would be the best five countries you have visited and why?

• Myanmar: it has an unique feeling of peacefulness and its people are very nice and warm-hearted.
• Scotland: I love to walk in the Highlands and I really enjoy Scotch whisky.
• Nepal: beautiful temples and trekking in Himalayas.
• Iceland: the most authentic country I ever visited, amazing nature!
• Romania: for the roughness and wilderness and great castles.

What countries are on your wish list?

So many! But the top five would be like this:

• Cameroon: I know about a good project there called Kedjom Keku and I really want to go to Africa.
• Greece: for it's history and beauty, not to mention the cousine.
• Israel: because I met many good people from there on my recent journey.
• Japan: the far east culture is very fascinating for me.
• New Zealand: this long-term wish is coming true very soon!

Can you tell us about the most "unique" travel experience you have lived?

That would be my overland journey from Europe to India we did in 2010. That's for sure. Visiting Iran and Pakistan was something I didn't expect to do back then. Many unique moments... It was also probably the real trigger for my travelling passion.

If you have to pack only one thing to your backpack, what would it be?

Notebook with pen.

What are the first three things you do when you arrive in a new place?

Find a place to sleep, take a walk around, have a beer.

What ultimate advice can you tell people that are crazy about travelling?

Make sure you have good boots and properly packed backpack. If you get into any sort of troubles, smile and find the easiest way out. There is rarely a real cause to panic.
