NEW DELHI: Assolving the 17 defendants, including former telecommunications minister A Raja in the case of the 2G spectrum, a judge commented today that despite "religiously dedicating seven years" to cases, the CBI did not present any legally admissible evidence

"I can also add that in the last seven years, every day of the week, including the summer holidays, I sat religiously in the open courtyard from 10 to 17, waiting for someone with some legally acceptable evidence in their possession, but all in vain", said the judge OP Saini in a verdict of 1,552 pages.

The process in the Spectrum scandal, which struck the government of Manmohan Singh led by Congress and left it with the label of excessive corruption, began in 2011. This was a year after the national auditor claimed that there had been massive irregularities in the second-generation Assignment or 2G spectrum of Mr. Raja.
