Heya Steemers. This is my first post.
Greetings my name is Bruce and I signed up a few days ago to check Steem out. Libertarian. IT professional. I don't make my living in crypto but I dabble and check things out from time to time. Mostly read the whitepapers & look at source in GitHub.
As far as steemit.com itself goes, its an interesting concept hybrid of twitter/FB/medium/Reddit as I see different parts of each at play here. I don't blog, as such not a big user of Facebook or Twitter as they rarely produce anything useful for me. I stick to podcasts, youtube, medium, StackOverflow, specific message boards and Reddit. More of a lurker & info seeker, than a participator.
I think most users might be a bit turned off by the UX/UI, e.g Categories, Search facets, view. Since this is a sort of hybrid content platform with a little bit of different flavor from FB, Medium, Twitter, Reddit etc. I feel like most people view and interact with content from various sites differently. The article content is certainly more like medium, but the discussion & categories more akin to Reddit.
Regardless of some of the aesthetics, this is the first platform which solves problems with intermediaries in the content distribution pipeline. Allowing content creators and consumers to have more freedom and profit more from the work they do. Very powerful regardless of all the info related to coin/token distribution creation which I've read. I also really like the value placed on reputation which helps to eliminate trolls.
I can see this being a huge benefit of this over something like StackOverflow, where technical users can produce high-quality posts & replies that provide actual value to the readers.
I look forward to learning more about Steem, the info is fairly scattered and buried, but very interesting.
Bruce, We can use more libertarian minded people. It sounds like you are quite capable of making an impact. Following you.
