Introduction: Politics and Philosophy / Presentación: Política y Filosofía

Hello everybody. I am new in Steemit so, first of all, let me introduce myself. I am a Spanish master student of philosophy and politics very interested in the challenges and opportunities globalisation presents to our democratic institutions and political systems. I would like to start writing about politics and political philosophy, but also about all kind of hot political events.

Hola a todos. Soy nuevo en Steemit así que primero permitid que me presente. Soy un estudiante español que actualmente está cursando un máster sobre filosofía y política. Mis principales temas de estudio son los retos y oportunidades que la globalización presenta a nuestras instituciones democráticas y sistemas políticos. Me gustaría empezar a escribir sobre política y filosofía política, pero también sobre todo tipo de acontecimientos políticos candentes que vayan surgiendo.

As I have said, my main research interests are philosophy and politics. Nevertheless, a properly approach to any of these matters also requires the study of some satellite subjects such as sociology, economics, law or history. In my posts I will try not to be too much technical or boring, but I will try to adopt the most empirical and analytical attitude I could. This does not mean that I will always be perfectly critical and objective, but at least I will try to explain myself by turning to reliable sources and appealing to the available evidence.

Como ya he dicho mis intereses centrales son la filosofía y la política, sin embargo, un adecuado abordaje de ambas requiere también del estudio de temas satélites como la sociología, la economía, el derecho y la historia. En mis posts intentaré no ser demasiado técnico ni aburrido, pero trataré de adoptar la actitud más empírica y analítica que me sea posible. Esto no significa que siempre vaya a ser perfectamente crítico y objetivo, pero al menos intentaré explicarme acudiendo a fuentes fiables y apelando a las evidencias disponibles.

I have notice that some people are writing about conspiracy theories. I have to warn that this will NOT be my case. I think that our current world is bad enough to invent fearsome conspiracies, usually based on little or no evidence and absolutely biased in the selection of data.

Me he dado cuenta que algunas personas están escribiendo sobre teorías conspirativas. Debo advertir que este NO será mi caso. Considero que el mundo va lo suficiente mal actualmente como para tener que inventar temibles conspiraciones, normalmente basadas en poca o ninguna evidencia y absolutamente sesgadas en la selección de datos.

There are some things in the world that arouse suspicion and invite us to wonder what may be the causes of such anomalies. The following chart is a good example. This graph shows the percentage of total absolute gain in real household per capita income between 1988-2008 received by groups at different points of the global income distribution. I think that the figures speak for themselves.

Hay algunas cosas en el mundo que despiertan suspicacia e invitan a uno a preguntarse cuáles pueden ser las causas de tales anomalías. La siguiente gráfica es un buen ejemplo. Este gráfica muestra el porcentaje de la ganancia absoluta total en el ingreso per cápita de los hogares reales entre 1988-2008 recibido por distintos grupos en diferentes puntos de la distribución del ingreso mundial. Creo que los datos hablan por sí mismos.

Faced with such shocking facts as these that this graphic shows we have two paths: the easy road of opinion or the difficult path of careful analysis.
