My first intro post! Come say hi, steemit!

Hi Steemit! I’m jellyfishdonut! I was born and raised in Canada but my family is originally from China. A few years ago, I decided to quit my job and go backpacking. I ended up living in Spain for a few months in the city of Granada (¡Hola Steemit! ¿Cómo estáis? Hablo un poquito de español. ¡Besos!). Before that, I had never traveled on my own before and it really opened up a whole new world to me. I traveled all around Europe and gained so much independence and confidence that I never experienced back home. Since then, I’ve traveled to different parts of Asia and North America and have met people from all over the world. Traveling solo is not always easy but there are definitely way more ups than there are downs.

Growing up in a Chinese family, I was exposed to all kinds of foods. Being picky really wasn’t an option in my house since we were a low income family. Now food is such a big part of my life and is what I love the most about traveling. I love learning about new dishes and exploring different food cultures. I’m definitely a lover of cookbooks and I think I’m quite a good cook if I do say so myself. ;) (I cooked the shrimp dish in the photos below.) I currently work in food and tourism as a tour guide in my hometown so I can introduce people to places I love. I’m also one of those annoying people that take photos of their food before they eat it.

Aside from food and travel I have many random interests. I love art and design - colours and patterns always catches my eye. I also love reading graphic novels and hope to oneday make one of my own. I enjoy drawing and painting and I actually drew my avatar (what do you think?) I know succulents are kind of trendy, but I’ve always thought they were the cutest plants. My house has quite a few and none of them have died yet, so fingers crossed it stays that way. I like peppy oldies from the 60’s and chill folky music. I watch A LOT of tv and lately my favs are sci-fi/fantasy shows like GoT, Westworld, Handmaid’s Tale & Stranger Things. I think the funniest shows are Rick and Morty and anything Larry David.

On Steemit I will post about places from my travels, traveling tips, unique eateries and dishes and definitely more than a few photos. I guess that’s about it! Any questions? Thanks for reading, Steemit! :)
