Introducing myself

Hi fellow Steempunks!
First of all this is me: 10404286_787346361345108_5418108344907053184_n.jpg

Now some of you might wonder why a German of all people calls himself a Salsero, when we are famous for having the stiffest hip in the world ... and a stiff right arm (yes I did just do a Nazi joke, but I'll get to my sense of humour in a bit). So here's the reason:

So it was a lovely night in September at the end of an Interrail trip just before entering into the mystical universityland. I passed through Berlin on my way back to Hamburg where I met a friend of mine from high school, who had already started studying. We were five people looking to party on a weekday night. Since four of us had been to the same school we had all gone through dancing classes in 10th grade and had all enjoyed the concept of proper dancing. So one of us had suggested we go to a Salsa club, which none of us had danced before, but hey! Why not? So we embarked on a journey and ended up on one of the three dance floors at the club which actually played Salsa. Back then i couldn't tell the difference between Salsa, Raeggeton and what not not, but I guess it was destiny.
Before I knew what was happening, the rythm had grabbed me by the ankles and shifted them forward and backward in a way that seemed to fit the music. Knowing jack about what I was doing I was at one point dancing with two of the girls from our group at the same time, twisting and turning them as well as myself like there was no tomorrow.
Do you know that sometimes ignorance is bliss and I think in this case it was as true as ever, because not knowing how anything worked I was free to do whatever felt right. It took me at least a year after actually starting to learn Salsa properly that I was this free in dancing and trying out movements I hadn't done before. And this made me realise one thing, that when you start learning Salsa (or anything for that matter) you so concentrate on the learning part that you cannot focus on the inherent fun that you are having and it takes you a long time to be this free in your mind again to fully enjoy the moment.

I have now been dancing Salsa for 7 years and have been teaching on a hobby basis for some years as well. And I have the true belief that anybody can learn Salsa to a degree that everybody involved is having fun. So I started social media (YouTube: Through the medium of Salsa) to show everybody how much fun Salsa is and help ease that leap of the first few months, where you are still clueless and insecure about what you're doing. My approach is not the instructional kind, because you already have enough of those on the internet, but the entertainment one. I have been on stage performing comedy for a while, mainly comedy music with my ukulele but also a little bit of stand-up. Again, not something we Germans are famous for and so I don't mind if you assume I suck at it, but hear me out! My aim is to show Salsa in a funny relatable way, that you are so eager to learn it that you power through the first few months of learning Salsa. Or actually get you interested in the first place.
Now I'll write more on that in a different post but first I will stick to the topic of MeMeMe. I'll just give you a little teaser of me dancing:

Coming back to the humour part. I actually grew up in London (11-19) and graduated at the German school London. I moved around a lot in my life so I consider myself truly European. My personality is the equivalent of a guy in Lederhosen with a bowler hat, an umbrella, and a Belgian waffle in his hand. I'm very direct in my way of addressing things while having a subtle sense of humour that can easily cross the line. (A pro tip for any comedians: Don't make pedophilia jokes to a German audience! Definitely not a good idea...)

So what am I doing on Steemit? Well I'm a sucker for anything new. Throughout my life at university I have tried Yoga, Chinese, debating and much more. After graduating I'll be starting a company in robotics with a friend of mine (we already have a working prototype) and currently I'm on a cryptocurrency walkabout. That's how I discovered Steemit. I have yet to fully understand it all but I thought I'd dive right in and learn everything as I go along. So I'm looking forward to getting to know this thingamajig and the lovely people on it :)

Welcome to Steemit! Also lol... is that Merkel?

Thank you :) And yes, that's our beloved chancellor ^^

Welcome to Steemit! It'd be great if you shared a verification picture of yourself with a handwritten sign that says "Steemit" and has the current date.

It helps people to know that you didn't just post a picture of someone else and claim that it's you. Hope that helps!

Thank you for the reminder @matthewdavid . Totally forgot about that. I've just uploaded one :)
