Turning humiliation and betrayal into SUCCESS: Introducing GeekArtist!

An aspiring artist, I have joined you guys for 2 reasons:

To be part of another family doing what I love, and as a bonus make some money!
So that's that. If you got a second... read my story. :)

Nearly four years ago I decided I wanted to make my own comic, and quickly I wouldn't be able to tell a story with copy skill alone.
So I practiced and practiced... drawing shapes and lines just stabilise my HORRIBLE wrist/hand control...

I WAS MOCKED ON INSTAGRAM TO THOUSANDS! Two years ago, an old role model of mine called me sh##, & posted my work as an example of those not born with "talent" never being able to change that.

I admit, I was hurt... a lot. I practiced viciously in attempt to get over the humiliation my 'role model' caused me, he lost a lot of followers doing what he did.

Around this time my girlfriend at the time grew more distant (I'll eternally blame myself) and got 'closer' with a "friend" of mine who I thought had my interests at heart. She basically wasn't happy with how busy I had become.

Within five months, I had found out by my 'friend' that she had been a fierce affair with him.

To be honest I told myself that night it was the price to pay for strong conviction to what you LOVE doing. So I forgave her that same night, and practiced, purely because I couldn't sleep. In addition to sporting injury I hit a new low. I clutched my pencil tears or no tears I drew!!!

That 'role model' of mine? I surpassed him within a year. Haven't looked back since.

I broke up with the next girlfriend I had after 2 months. Quickly seeing the warning signs I had overlooked before, due to my selfishness/conviction to my identity. As far as I'm concerned if you rely on someone else to make you happy, if they go - so does your happiness. My improvement was my source of happiness. My hobbies (ice hockey, piano, drawing and boxing) helped me in times I felt the world was filth.

It's been a good journey, not done yet. :)
