Welcome to the Dragon Harvest. I’d like to thank you for visiting and welcome you to the modern form of the salon. This salon isn’t designed to makeover your hair, but your mind. Together, we will be taking a journey throughout our modern world and its recent history so that we can begin to paint the picture of legacy that the Information Age will leave behind.

The focal point of this metaphorical painting will be on the great social and technological advancements starting in the 20th century and the rapid, influential expansion of globalization. History, as it was written by the victors for centuries, began to change during the 20th century. Photography and film changed the way that the world was seen and what could be forever glorified in a painting, could not so easily be doctored in a picture. Ships could sail between continents within days, then planes soared people across within hours. The global transfer of people, ideas, and culture was a truly remarkable accomplishment for civilization. But with this rapidly global network and relentless barrage of information, comes new challenges for the governments and its people.

I have chosen to place these thoughts in an open forum; somewhat as an experiment, but also with the hope that this will inspire future discussions among like-minded individuals. Slowly, I wish to build the interests of our amateur/casual historians, philosophers, and even some political hopefuls in order to build a community that I have never been able to achieve outside these digital walls. My focus will be about the history and the lessons that we can learn to grow our society by looking into the past, but as friendships build, my focus can be redefined.

I do hope that some of you will join me in this journey; share your interests, share your viewpoints on the struggles of modern society, and help me explore and learn about all of the philosophical challenges that await us.

An nescis, mi fili, quantilla prudentia mundus regatur? - Axel Oxenstierna
