CHILD VIOLENCE

Violence against children is one of the major problems affecting families and society. It happens all around the world..all too often it happens in the family.
International laws clearly establishes every child's right to protection against violent,that right is underpinned by the #UN convention on the right of the child, the #guidelines for the alternative care of the child,and the #sustainable development goals. Yet violence against children persist often it remains hidden.

 THE MANY FACES OF VIOLENCE AGAINST CHILDREN 

▶Every 5 minutes a child dies of violence(The global partnership to end violence against children 2016)

▶One in 10 girls-120 million girls under the age 20 has been subjected to force sexual acts (UNICEF 2016)

▶Nearly one in 10 children-250 million worldwide lives in a country affected by confict (UNICEF 2016)

     DEVASTATING IMPACT OF VIOLENCE

Violence can affects a child for the rest of their life with severe consequences for a child's physical,psychological and mental health. Without adequate support and care,violence and trauma can have long term effects on a childs development and future. Children who have experienced violence are also more likely to perpetuate the circle of violence,passing on violence to their peers and future generation.

ENDING VIOLENCE AGAINST CHILDREN
Putting an end to all forms of violence-in families,in school,communities and states torn by conflict is of crucial importance for childrens rights and well being and a sustainable future. This can be achieved by:
➡ Supporting and strengthening families to foster stable and positive relationship

➡ Empowering communities and raising awareness among national and community stake holders to create safer environments for children

➡Supporting care proffessionals so they can keep children away from harms and help those affected by violence over come their trauma

➡Strengthening support networks to help others respond appropriately to cases of child abuse and risk of violence.
