A sad day for the internet in the US
On the 14th December 2017 the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) in the United Satates voted to dissolve net neutrality
If you don't know what net neutrality is then the video below gives a good explanation (a lot better than I can do) about what it is all about.
The actual repercussions of the vote still remain to be seen, but I hope for the sake of every user in the US not much changes. My guess is that the ISP's won't make any drastic changes immediately, after all they still want your custom.
As a UK resident what does this mean for us?
At the moment not much, the UK is protected by european law that enforces net neutrality. Although the UK is going the transition of Brexit (leaving the EU) and although they are trying to retain a lot of EU laws it doesn't mean that they will retain this law.
