The study of Steve Jones and et.al had justified what I have observed since I got into college .Throughout this years, as time runs by, the ascending population of college students and other individuals who use internet can clearly be seen.Almost everywhere around the campus you can not see students without bringing phones, laptops or any other gadgets that could access internet. With today’s progressive endeavors on technology, internet really plays an enormous role mostly into the lives of college students. In their educational field, internet serves as a supplementary tool for them to widen their horizon without buying and spending much things and time ,it surely enhanced their their academic achievements and skills they don’t even know.

Just like what we had based on our own experience about discussion board we never thought we could do brainstorming, interacting and could elaborate our ideas with one another without meeting in person face-to-face,..and another experienced was the online quiz, the checking of our “soft paper" is not time consuming, and we are able to see the ratio or percentage of students who got the wrong or correct answers. And our interaction to our professor on online is somewhat a good thing too.

In some other cases , internet as I have experienced is much better than library now because of the thought that there is no need for you to walk over the library just to search and look for things you have to know with regards to your home works and school works for internet makes it easier for you to navigate things in just a matter of a second.

The impact of internet greatly influenced college student’s time on studying, because there is a tendency that as you get access to the internet - given the fact that it could let you do many things like browsing some school staffs, sending messages to your friends, relatives, acquaintance and family; downloading music and videos; sending or sharing files and -your time for studying would be fully disseminated to any applications you are doing ..and it was stated in the article that three-fourth of college students use the internet four or more hours per week while about one-fifth uses it twelve or more hours per week and this is somewhat higher than the amount of time most students devote their time to study. And nearly two-thirds reported studying for classes no more than seven hours per week, so we could really imply that there is less time in studying for students while using the internet. This study relates to Keith Anderson’s research, one thousand three hundred college students in classrooms at eight academic institutions to identify how the Students’ use of the internet has affected their social or academic lives. Although the typical internet-using students uses the Internet for 100 minutes per day, a small group of students use the internet to a degree that interferes with other aspect of their lives. And according to Terregrossa et al.," the distractive dimensions of internet use outweigh the productive dimensions. In some ways little has changed since the first comprehensive look at U.S.. College Students’ Internet use" (Jones, 2002).Internet use is thoroughly woven into a college student’s life. Today’s college has for all intents and purposes grown up a with early knowledge of, if not regular access to, the internet whereas it was time in 2002 that college students took near- internet access for granted, since that time they take almost everything about internet for granted. They have access to numerous “web 2.0” technologies and we're at the forefront of the use of social networking sites. Their incorporation of those techniques has been almost seamless, with little obvious transition from earlier technologies that one finds in many blogs, newspaper and magazines.E-mail is still the tool the majority of college students use most often.More of them are blogging now than before. As a group they are heavy users of web tools and knew those tools as a part of college life and a part of communicating with friends and family. These findings suggest that students experience of the internet in 2005 was largely the same as that of their 2002 counterparts. In a relatively short period of time some of the main uses of the internet have shifted greatly among college students, while social communications, a primary use, remains largely unchanged and surprisingly so considering the increase in social networking sites during the period between surveys, the number of students who most often use the internet for coursework has greatly decreased. The number who use it for entertainment by contrast has greatly increased. One possibility is that the categories we have used became somewhat conflated over time.It may be that social communication and entertainment have become more similar since 2002, due to the rise of social networking sites.

But anyways, for us the problem is not the the time getting less in studying but the right management and prioritizing of someone’s time while accessing on the internet. One should be aware on how to balance the consumption of the internet so that one could keep the quality of his own educational career.

Conclusion:

College students use much of internet for educational and social communication purposes. But college students use the internet more as a medium for social communication than for education, however, they are using it to maintain relationship they have made with friends in high school. And as they get entertained while accessing on the internet their allotted time for studying lessens, and their time intend for leisure increases. And in any various activity,College students have the great number of Internet in general population.Internet really have a great influence to the lives of every people especially to college students however,it makes the lives of the students easy and convenient.
