Recently, a friend of mine approached me to seek some advice on how to decorate her house. After some discussion with her, an idea of writing this post came up my mind.

Before decorating your house, there are a few important elements to consider before we made any decisions.

Concept
Design Concept takes such a big role in designing a house. Once you have decided on your house design concept, it will lead to your choices in color, and design styles.

Paint
A color is a powerful tool. Though choosing a color for a room can be fun, it can also be intimidating. A lot of people will simply put their favorite color in their room without knowing it has so much to do with the light as the pigment. It's not simple, though, as you like yellow, pick yellow.

Floors
These days, natural materials like wood are used in a more common way. Although our floors can be made of anything due to the advanced technology. However, wood floor somehow feels right and look more modern. It is somewhat choosing an art piece and place it on the floor. Considering there are so many species of wood in different color and natural texture. It is actually not an easy task to do. Beyond choosing the right color, we also need to use the right wood (depends on the climate in where you live) Also, the longer wood plank without a cut, the expensive it is.

Furniture
Furniture is the most basic item everyone has in a space. It relates to the design concept you choose. Furniture that was made from the 16th Century was more refined and detailed. Compared to present, "less is more" concept, people are making their decision in better design through simplicity. At the same time, many designers and craftsmen are looking into furniture that is created by sustainably sourced materials.

Accessories
Accessories is an aesthetics of touch ought to have. And often in times, people would forget about the importance of it. What is considered as accessories? Lighting, paintings, plants, antiques, designer books, ceramic, glass and etc. Those are something that will enhance your living space and most importantly your lifestyle.
