HIIT: High Intensity Integrity Training
Fitness enthusiasts are no doubt familiar with the HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) approach for optimally effective exercise.
While I am an advocate for staying in the best shape possible, since our bodies are our vehicles for this human journey, I find another use of the acronym useful in these times. That is, High Intensity Integrity Training.
The present moment in human history, and the unraveling of oppressive structures prior to the reintegration of an evolved masculine and feminine principle, is indeed intense. It requires a strengthening of a different kind of muscle–Integrity.
We must each ask ourselves, What do we stand for? How do our thoughts, words and actions bring integrity, or the state of being whole and undivided, to a world torn apart not only by hatred of self and others but also by complacence.
To have integrity is to be willing to act when it’s inconvenient or threatens our comfort level. It’s an awareness that the discomfort in the collective will find its way in through every crack to the place in the soul that can’t be numbed with a substance, shopping or a social media device. Sometimes what feels like it will break you will ultimately set you free, when you meet it.
Let’s train together and strengthen our resolve to love ferociously, even when we have reached muscle failure and can’t hold on anymore. And, can we tap the depth of our greatness by committing to meet each other outside of entrenched, contracted expectations to birth a new possibility?
To that end, I close with the words of the beloved poet, Rumi:
Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing,
there is a field. I’ll meet you there.
"When the soul lies down in that grass,
the world is too full to talk about.
Ideas, language, even the phrase 'each other' doesn’t make any sense."
