warming potential", the second one "cited the short and long term adverse effects to marine ecosystems, solid waste management, global resource consumption and litter".

While global warming does affect all of earths environment, and has potentially very grave consequences, the second report/quote shows the very immediate (and long term) direct consequences of plastic on the environment.
