For one to fall within the age limit of youth in Nigeria, such citizen will have to be between the age of 18-35. Nigeria is the most populous country in Africa with one of the largest populations of youth in the world, comprising 33,652,424 members.
Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, formerly the President of Nigeria from 1999 until 2007, believes that identifying and addressing issues that would enhance the lives of the youth would improve overall national development. He has stated that, "Youth constitute Nigeria's only hope for a real future". The Nigerian government characterizes youth as ambitious, enthusiastic, energetic and promising. They are considered vulnerable in society because of the rapid pace of change they experience at this time in their lives. source
The reality we youth are facing in this present adminstration is just the opposite of what the past adminstration believe we are capable of, the present government sees us as illiterate, lazy, unambitious and not ready to contribute anything positive to the development of the country. I think it's high time we show them what we are capable of doing not only on social media, but by participating actively in the 2019 general election.
