"Whats the worst thing that could happen?" is probably not the best way for creating a habit of noticing good in the world. A degree of caution is necessary for a long and prosperous life; constantly looking out for danger is not. On the other hand, expecting the best not only leaves us disappointed if the best doesn't materialize, but too often we end up not appreciating even the best. If we are expecting the worst, we see right through the unicorns, they are invisible on the plane of "what's the worst thing" thinking. Acknowledging the good and not taking every little good for granted goes a long way.
