What a great photo! I'm no expert of course, but it reminds me a lot of the bug we have around here as well.
They can be green and brown in color, depending on their life's stage I think. We have green and brown ones.

You have to be careful not to scare them, or touch them. They're not dangerous, but they will spray when they feel threatened. It can stink pretty badly. Even worse if you squish them I've heard. They are the reason I won't let the cats out on the balcony at night anymore, because they are attracted by the light and come up on the balcony.
Murli encountered one not long ago. She sniffed at it and it sprayed her right in her face. It's causing a burning sensation and a stench. Murli came racing in shaking her head and trying to wipe her face with her paw. I went out on the balcony to see what could have happened, and there it sat, that bug.
Thankfully it's harmless to cats too. It just is yucky and uncomfortable if it happens.
Green shield bug
The green shield bug – Palomena prasina – is a European shield bug species in the family Pentatomidae. The name might equally apply to several other species in the tribe Nezarini, or if referred-to as a "green stink bug", it might more appropriately belong to the larger North American bug, Acrosternum hilare. The adult green shield bug ranges in the colour of their backs from bright green to bronze, without any substantial markings. Green shield bugs are a very common shield bug throughout Europe, including the British Isles, and are found in a large variety of habitats, including gardens.
