The laser attacks to crews of passenger planes become a serious problem in many countries of the world. Only in Great Britain in 2015 1400 similar attacks have been recorded. The majority of assaults is committed at take off and landing of liners or against police helicopters for what the simple, but powerful portable laser devices which are available on free sale are used, as a rule.

As a result of laser influence members of crews are exposed to temporary dazzle that leads to loss of control of indications of devices, and in the long term can turn back serious problems with sight.

The system developed by the research engineer of BAE Systems Daniel Blek will help to solve a problem. Here what he has told about her.

"I have learned about the laser attacks to passenger planes from news a few years ago. Since then I deal with this problem. The idea of protection against influence of the laser has come to my mind during viewing 3D - the movie. Instead of watching the movie, I looked on 3D - the points forming the image by light blocking. After that I was engaged in creation of the special filter which would be capable to block harmful effects of the laser".

The optical system which has turned out as a result misses up to 70% of visible light, but blocks let to dangerous laser radiation. Representatives of BAE Systems have reported that after completion of tests the system will be put in production.

well done maxer27, once again!

Lets hope they can stop this from causing problems for the pilots and avoid further incidents.

pew pew another one bites the dust

Great news about laser attacks @maxer27. Thanks to research engineer Daniel Blek who is going to solve the problem.

I wonder what the penalties are if one is caught? Mayb not quite stiff enough. 50 years behind bars ought to serve to be a good deterrance.
