First it was lemonade stands. Now, kids can't shovel snow without a permit. I KID YOU NOT!
The omnipotent global police state is constantly pushing the barriers, just to see how much idiocy the people will accept. This story (linked below) is a perfect case in point. I had to double check to make sure this wasn't from "The Onion" or "Sorcha Faal" before deciding to post it here, because, like the first stories of little kids being arrested for selling lemonade without a permanent, it seemed "to out there" to be true. But, sadly, it is true:

"Charles Shelton and his foster son Keyshawn Anderson learned about the police state bureaucracy the hard was last week when Anderson tried to raise some extra cash by shoveling snow. Shelton dropped the boy off at his grandma’s home in Pasadena Hills last week to shovel snow and once he started, the police quickly rolled in to check if Anderson had a permit. He did not, so he was shut down.
“I feel like there are other ordinances that are more important that should be addressed verses some young man shoveling snow,” said Shelton. According to Anderson, he was approached by police twice for shoveling his grandma’s driveway without a permit. “I felt like that was unfair, I felt like I wasn’t doing anything wrong,” said Anderson.
When the officer came back the second time, Anderson was issued a warning, noting that if he attempted to shovel snow without scribbling on government paper again, he’d be extorted via a citation."

Now, I have heard it all.
Look, the only thing the good people of American REALLY need to be safe from are OUT-OF-CONTROL, POWER-HUNGRY MATTOIDS RUNNING AROUND WITH BADGES pretending to be "peace officers." What they really are now, of course, are local authority REVENUERS who need to be dressed up one side and down the other about what it means to swear an oath to "protect and serve" and "to uphold the Constitution."
Any police officer who would give a kid a citation for shoveling snow needs to be locked up until it can be proven that he/she is not "a danger to himself or to the community."
Seriously.
