never strike back, only strike first, evade, or kill.

I agree it's one the most violent kung fu ever, as it doesn't provide escalation / confrontation path to the adversary, however it's necessary to provide and maintain a good hedge in relation to the future event... furthermore if the adversary doesn't understand evade, it may come to the point that strike back once is warranted. I know some will say it's bad, but there is a way to behave and engage...

and that's why kung fu can't and won't ever be a "sport"... it ain't.
