Agreed, I think they were surprised that a Father would be so violent around his own child.

I know it is their Job to be ready for this, but I was surprised myself at his escalation. To go from simple disagreement to attempted murder is seconds is not normal. I bet they thought one was enough to control him, but with the jump to homicide they should have used both. But that is in hindsight, and they would have changed their method had they known he was slightly crazy.

More restraint was definitely called for, and I wish it had happened for the child's sake.
