[Information War Contest] Teaching Our Children to Love Truth
This is my entry in the @wakeupnd contest asking the question "How do you personally fight the Information War in real life?"
The War in real life.
I suppose this isn't as glorious as getting out on the street with my camera attempting to preach truth. I'm not getting into local politics. No. The way we fight the information war in real life? Teaching our children to discern the truth from lies. To seek out the truth that is not always apparent or clear.

Children are our future.
The enemy knows this better than most. We are conditioned to believe that once a child reaches the age of four, they must begin the separation process from the family. They go to 'pre-school' where they get used to the idea of another authority besides parents. It's the 'teacher'. It begins as a few hours a day, a few days a week. Next comes 'kindergarden', where school begins to become an integral part of a young child's life.
The indoctrination increases as the child grows, but it's not until the child begins adolescence, when children start forming their own ideas and opinions, that the information war really begins. The first bit of information that the system combats in the mind of maturing children? The authority of parents.
The system wants our children. They want their hearts. They want their minds. Most of all, they want their souls.
Separation, seduction and flattery.
The system separates the children, they seduce the children with ideas, they flatter them with rewards. If they are successful, the final product is a rebellious young adult. Not rebellious against the system, but rebellious against conventional family structure. Rebellious against conventional morality. Rebellious against the Law and order put in place by the Almighty God.
Do we teach our children to be rebels?
No, we do not. First we teach them obedience. Then we teach them right from wrong, good from evil. Then we teach them to love truth. We foster in them a love for the truth. We spend most of our time teaching them to seek out and prize truth. Then, once they are grounded in truth? The most advance teaching of all. Disobedience. Not rebellion, but learning when it's good to say "Yes" and when it's good to say "no".
Sometimes, you must tell the system "no, I do not consent."

This is why Proverbs tell us to "teach a child in the way he or she should go... " and Deuteronomy instructs us to speak to our children of His Torah "when we rise up, sit down, walk by the way.... " Thank you for putting it so succinctly. The wicked of the world certainly do intend to "separate and seduce". Very well put @ironshield !

Excellent post.
Teaching our kids the values we want to imposed on them instead of the government or entertainment industry is a small but important part of fighting the info war.
A while back I thought I wasn't doing anything to fight the info war but then I realized choosing not to vaccinate my son meant that I had some skin in the fight.
Making the decision to go against the grain, so to speak, always demonstrates a willingness to fight the info war, on the side of independence. @ironshield
