This kind of frame of giving even the slightest shat what 97% of the unwashed masses believe, and evaluating that "belief" as being "true" or "false" is much closer to the way an atheist dumbbunker thinks than anything a trained scientist would waste their time with.
"Science", as you appear to be imagining it, doesn't deal in "beliefs", but working theories. "In Science" (similar to "in the navy" I suppose?), all knowledge is always considered incomplete and nothing is held as certain or completely knowable.
Please stop conflating science with pseudo-skepticism.
