The problem is that Wallymart isn't some separate corporation that makes choices that are seen as best for the customers. No, it is part of the panoptocon and was designed to control what people should buy... and as a later resort, what they can buy.
I see this as an opening for small stores to make a comeback.
But, you can always buy ammo on line.
The problem is nothing grows back when the fields have been salted.
Main St USA just doesn't come back after Agent Orange (homeydepot) and Wallymart comes through.
