Ini adalah salah satu makanan khas Bengkulu Selatan, namanya tapeghan daging (daging yang diasap). Konon, pada zaman dulu masyarakat Bengkulu Selatan belum mempunyai kulkas ( lemari es) untuk menyimpan daging agar bisa awet untuk beberapa hari. Oleh karena itu, masyarakat mempunyai inisiatif membakar sebagian daging tersebut agar bisa mereka simpan dengan aman tanpa khawatir busuk dan tidak sekaligus mereka masak semua. Mereka bisa masak lain hari dengan olahan yang berbeda.
