Bali's building height is not higher than coconut trees or maximum 15 meters only

This Bali local regulation made in the early of 1970s.

One of the highest building in Bali is Grand Bali Beach hotel, a 10-floor hotel that was built in 1966, before the regulation was introduced.

The reasons of this regulation are to appreciate local wisdom (Hinduism) and not be higher than the highest pura Bali, which is Pura Besakih. So, it was not exceed this Pura. Also, it aligns with Tri Hita Karana, Bali philosophy, that explains three principles for prosperity is harmony among people, harmony with the nature/environment and harmony with God.

Also, coconut tree has been chosen as symbol of the interaction between environment and people. All parts of a coconut tree ( root, stem, leaf, fruit) are seen to bring benefits to people and community.
