Recently, Indonesian researchers succeeded in producing food that also contains both compounds. Who would have thought Omega 3 and antioxidants can be obtained at once in a duck egg

Three researchers from the Department of Nutrition and Feed Technology, Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Bogor Agricultural Institute (Fapet IPB), Sumiati, Widya Hermana and Arif Darmawan conducted a study of duck eggs.

They managed to increase the nutritional eggs of duck, much different from the duck eggs in general.

This study was conducted by evaluating the effectiveness of the use of flour from the leaves of Indigofera sp which is often used for animal feed, then cassava flour and lemuru fish oil. The three raw materials are used as feed ducks.

According to Sumiati one of the researchers revealed that Indigofera sp flour can replace soybean meal as a source of protein that has been used as ration in laying ducks, so that when the import of soybean meal is reduced the duck ration can be bought cheaper.

"Lemuru fish oil which is a waste of canning and lemuru fish can also be used to lower the cholesterol content of eggs and increase Omega 3 content significantly," said the Professor of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry in a release received VIVA.co.id, Wednesday, 16 August 2017.

Therefore, the provision of animal feed with these three components can produce antioxidants and omega 3 fatty acids, but does not affect the performance of laying ducks.

In this experiment, this researcher uses 180 ducks. The results of the experiment showed that the addition of cassava flour can improve the efficiency of feed use.

In addition, cassava flour is known to reduce saturated fatty acids and increase the content of omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids with a balanced ratio. Meanwhile, fish oil and flour Indigofera produce better performance and better chemical quality of duck eggs.

Eggs of animal products containing high protein. The price is relatively affordable and availability abundant in Indonesia. Nowadays it is necessary to improve the quality of egg nutrition. The high egg design of antioxidants and omega 3 fatty acids is a must.
