Jakarta: At least 174 people died at an Indonesian soccer stadium as thousands of angry home fans stormed the pitch and police responded with tear gas, sparking a stampede, authorities said Sunday.
"At 09.30 (02.30 WIB) the death toll was 158 people, at 10.30 WIB it increased to 174 people. That is the data compiled by the East Java Regional Disaster Management Agency," said Deputy Governor of East Java Emil. Dardak to Kompas TV
