Menunggang motor sejenis ini memang mengasyikan dan sangat memacu adrenalin, apalagi jika melaju diatas track tanah, lumpur, atau bebatuan yang tidak rata. Motor biasa tidak akan mampu untuk melewati track seperti ekstrim ini, oleh karena itu diciptakanlah motor off road yang salah satunya adalah motocross.

Motor off road dibagi menjadi dua jenis yaitu motocross dan enduro. Jenis motocross biasanya digunakan di lintasan jarak pendek yang diberi berbagai rintangan. Tangki bahan bakar berukuran kecil disematkan di motor ini untuk menjaga agar bobotnya tetap ringan. Suspensi dirancang dengan ukuran yang tinggi agar motor ini dapat melompat dengan berbagai ketinggian.
