Traditional Fishermen against Modern Fishermen
A number of districts in Aceh (Indonesia), are marine areas. Residents who settled there as fishermen. But they still use traditional equipment, because they do not get a formal education about marine.
The condition was used by fishermen from outside Aceh to steal fish. The 'foreign' fishermen looted seafood with modern equipment.
The catch of traditional fishermen is declining. The 'foreign' fishing trawl has taken fish and shrimp to the seeds.
Sejumlah kabupaten di Aceh (Indonesia), merupakan wilayah laut. Warga yang menetap di sana sebagai nelayan. Namun mereka masih menggunakan peralatan traditional, sebab mereka tidak mendapatkan pendidikan formal tentang kelautan.
Kondisi itu dimanfaatkan nelayan dari luar Aceh untuk mencuri ikan. Nelayan 'asing' itu menjarah hasil laut dengan peralatan modern.
Hasil tangkapan nelayan tradisional semakin menurun. Pukat milik nelayan 'asing' telah mengambil ikan dan udang sampai pada benih.
Thank you for providing news from a part of the world I don't often hear about. The new fishermen will not only steal fish but eventually they will over fish to the point where nobody can catch fish at all.
Traditional methods always understand the balance between man and nature and do a much better job of keeping industries viable.
Exactly, the traditional method is environmentally friendly. But the traditional method was defeated with modren.
