Satta-Matka is a type of lottery which originally includes betting on the opening and closing rates of cotton transmitted from the New York cotton Exchange. It continues before the era of independence. In the 1960s, it replaced with other ways of generating random numbers, including pulling slips from a large pot known as a Matka or playing cards.

He argued that big-moneyed gambling in casinos is legal but matka isn’t, Wagh said gambling should not be considered by class of living style. “There should not be a class element when we look at gambling. We have to see if we can legalize matka,” Wagh said.
By then, the term “Satta-Matka” wasn’t new in our country. Satta was the reason behind the biggest war in the history of our nation “The War of Mahabharata”.
