BJP leader and actress Smriti Irani was born in 1972 to a Punjabi father and Bengali mother. His father used to run a courier company. He was best known as Tulsi's character in TV serial 'Because Saas too Kabhi Bahu Thi'. The marriage of memory has happened to Jubin Irani. Smriti was associated with BJP in 2003. In the 2004 Lok Sabha election, BJP gave him the party ticket from Chandni Chowk parliamentary seat. Kapil Sibal was contesting from the Congress side against him. In this election, memory had to face defeat. But despite this he continued to work for the party. In 2010, Smriti was made the national president of BJP's Women's Union. In August, 2011, he became a Rajya Sabha member from BJP. He has been raising issues related to women in the Parliament. These days they appear very little on TV and can often be seen taking part in serious political debates on news channels. Recently, he has also sued defamation case against Sanjay Nirupam of Congress.
