Celebrate democracy, cast your vote!

A good leader shapes the future of the country and its people. Democracy is a unique tool or strategy which gives people a little power to voice their opinion, it may seems small for an individual but if everyone voice the same opinion then it become bigger and stronger. That's the beauty of 'majority'. Elections should not be ignored by any citizen of the country. I'd like to share some thoughts and my experience.

In India, this is the time to show your support or to voice your concern. If you ignore now, then you have no chance to complain for next 5 years. Democracy in theory and practical is different, it is largely due to our political structure. This is an election season in India, it is being held in different phases in different places.

Conflict of Interest

It may happen that the candidate in your area is good but he is supporting a party which you don't want to support. There are multiple scenarios like,

• You support the party but the local candidate is bogus or corrupt

• You want to support a regional party but don't like their alliance with national level party

• You want to give chance to new candidates or party but you are also sure that it won't form a govt or make an impact national level

• You don't feel like voting for any political party.

It is confusing and sometimes annoying too. Whatever may be the situation, do not back off from casting your vote. It is your responsibility as a citizen.

My experience with elections

Based on my experience, many people still vote for the 'party symbol' or 'face value of PM/CM/Leader' or 'loyalty' without even knowing who is the candidate in their constituency. In the past I have interacted many who are into politics or related to political leader, right from the school days I was fascinated by the whole frenzy around elections and political leaders. The oratory skills and the upbeat energy of the party men can only be witnessed during election season.

Indonesia, is also voting for its next president today. I wish the outcome will be good for the country as well its people.

Cast your vote

I urge everyone of you to go out and vote on designated date & place.

• Find out about your polling station
• Check if your name is available(https://electoralsearch.in/) and also details about your polling station.
• Keep all the necessary documents ready
• Encourage others also to cast their vote.
• Help old age, differently-abled people in reaching the venue or in whatever capacity you can.
• Ensure your family and friends cast their vote.

If you think none of the candidate or party deserve your vote then cast your vote as NOTA(None of the above). I would end this post here with the following quote, think and act.
