Journalist killed in India; Chota Rajan life imprisonment

Special CBI court in Mumbai has given life imprisonment to nine people including Rajendra Nikal, alias Chota Rajan, convicted in the Jyotirmoy Dey murder case of India's senior journalist.
The special court on Wednesday announced the sentence of the accused.
Earlier in the morning, the remaining people including the Chota Rajan were convicted. On the other hand, the acquittal of the case was given to accused journalist Zigna Vora and Paulson Yoshpe.
Special Public Prosecutor (PP) Pradip Gharat told the court on this day that an attack on a journalist means attacking the fourth pillar of democracy, so no soft attitude should be taken against the perpetrators. On the other hand, lawyers of the accused said that this incident is not rare in rare cases, so they should not be sentenced to death. The court sentenced the accused to life imprisonment after hearing both sides.
