For the billions of people who live outside India, India is nothing more than a land of snake charmers and streets filled with cows. Deep inside behind all the veils there lies an India, which is more than just "An India", its pluralism redefined. With its wide multitude of culture, language, geography and ecosystems, India is a multi-faceted young bride in the vast history of humanity.

For anyone withing India, belonging to or residing in India for a period more than 5 years and who has well traveled the roads of New Delhi and that of Chennai, would realize the vast difference in the culture and attitude of its people. New delhi being part of the Northern part of India is in close proximity to international borders with China, Pakistan and Afghanistan. Historically, bordering Persia & Europe(China was not considered a neighbour owing to the himalayas acting as a natural border). This region has always been fraught with war and raids from the erstwhile dynasties of West-Asia. Everyone from Aexander, Ghazni, Tughlak and finally the Mughals have raided Indian borders for the past 1000 years, making it one of the most prized possessions. Owing to this constant war and attack, The North Indians have evolved to be genetically blessed with superior leadership skills, aggressiveness, passion and anger.

Moving down south, the India here is very different, having a healthy coastline, relatively stable governments/dynasties for the past 2000 years, the people here have evoved to be culturally superior, educationally advanced and well literate. The south Indian community prides itelf with its maturity in thoughts, refineness of taste in culture, art and music. Its also severly lacks in aggressiveness, cos it never needed much of it in the past, owing to a peaceful history in comparison to the North India. This I believe is the core of what divide the NOrth and Southern part of India.

North Indians: Great revolutionaries, leaders, tactical and operationally superior. Aggressive, conflicting attitude, execessive pride, jingoistic, intolerant.
South Indians: Refined, cultured, tolerant, docile, well cultured, muted, passive, pacifist, open to ideologies.

So the next time you meet an Indian, do ask him which part of India he is from, if they say East or the west, well, thats a story for the next blog.
