Enforcing Immigration
The United States is known for being a country of opportunities and leading in many industries, but there has been a problem in our country for many years now. This problem, of course, is illegal immigration, which is when people who are not allowed to enter the country but still do with either fake documents or by sneaking across the border. There are laws against this type of immigration and I feel like they are not being properly enforced. Time and time again people have made promises to enforce the laws but many of them have not upheld their promises to their full extent. Enforcing our countries laws and policies is something that has been neglected for far too long, but now someone has stepped up to try to change things.
President Trump, the current president of the United States of America has vowed to enforce the laws and make it harder to enter the country illegally. This is one step towards protecting our country from these kinds of people and preventing them to cut in line (or go around the line) ahead of the honest people who are waiting to get proper documentation in their own countries. One of the President's plans is to build a wall on the southern border of the country which was successful because “A House committee has given preliminary approval to about $1.6 billion for 28 miles of a new levee wall along the U.S.-Mexico border and 46 miles of fencing”. This is just one of his plans that are contributing to his success into making illegal immigration the lowest it has been in over 17 years. Border security and fines have increased since Trump came into office, adding to the rapid decline in illegal immigration. These and much more are the reasons that our President was chosen by U.S. citizens to be in charge of our country for the next four years.
Another major goal of the President was to hire American workers and deport the criminals that entered the country illegally, which he is already showing the initiative to do. A fact stated in an article on the ICE website says, “deportation officers administratively arrested 41,318 individuals on civil immigration charges”, this shows that immigration is being dealt with faster and more seriously than before. Each person and president that runs for office make promises on topics that are so important to some people that they would want to vote for the person making these promises if they think that the person making these promises can uphold them. Our president so far has upheld the promises that he has made to the citizens of the United States of America which is a very good thing for all legal residents of this country. It would help to make our country safer and keep it that way while decreasing unemployment and increasing jobs available for people in our country.
Many people may have many different opinions on illegal immigration, but if there is one thing that everyone should agree on is that illegal immigration is wrong. Even if you do not for whatever reason agree that immigration by illegal means is wrong you have to acknowledge the fact that it is a problem and like all problems, there is a solution. That is the reason our current president has promised to solve this problem in whatever way he can and now that he is in progress of solving our immigration problem our country will begin to grow economically. Personally, I hope that our country continues on a path of success and develops to become a safer place for all citizens and legal immigrants but this will only happen with a leader who has the initiative to do his best under pressure and criticism.
