Ygasuasu, another imaginary friend of @vcelier
source
In 1995, when Vincent (@vcelier) was working in Richmond, BC for Hughes Aircraft of Canada on CAATS, the Canadian Automated Air Traffic System, he invented another imaginary friend. He called it initially "Ygasuau", but changed it to "Ygasuasu". The meaning of the name Ygasuasu is explained below.
Ygasuasu was used to make fun of some people that were also working on CAATS, specially a team leader whose name is no longer remembered and that we will call Joe.
Vincent would sometimes act as the spokesperson for Ygasuasu and make humorous comments on various subjects.
On the first internal web site of CAATS, Ygasuasu had his own web page. He was described as a Japanese philosopher that was educated in France and in the United States. At some point we learned that he had a wife, Daisy Vm, or DVM, similar to the Distributed Virtual Machine that was the lower layer of the CAATS software.
With the help of his supervisor, Vincent tried to get an e-mail address for Ygasuasu, but this was denied when it was learned that he was an imaginary person. Why did they not allow Ygasuasu when there was an e-mail for somebody called "Duck N. Cover"?
The funny thing was that Joe, the team leader that was the main target, was a big fan of Ygasuasu. He was never told the meaning of the name:
You hooked me with the "hey you guys" graphic. I don't know if anyone else is old enough to know that from the show "the electric company" but I sure did and it made me smile. Thanks!
You are welcome. I will tell Ygasuasu.
