WHY A JAPANESE MEAL IS ALWAYS SPECIAL

Having a Japanese meal means it’s a special date for me and my husband. Because you have to wait for each meal to be prepared, this is also the time for us to catch up with each other without any distractions. For us, having a quiet meal in a Japanese restaurant either means de-stressing or celebrating. In short, a Japanese meal equates to our comfort food.
But to be profound about things, a simple Japanese meal speaks a lot about life and its blessings. The art that is incorporated into every meal prepared speaks of how important a relationship is. That for a relationship to grow – the values of patience, time and commitment have to be given. Every slice of a sushi or a sashimi speaks of the thin line of rawness that a marriage has to keep, the truthfulness of character, the freedom to be one’s own self without any fear of being judged. The many side dishes speak of how a relationship can be made extra special by the simplest and little things in life. A bowl of Ramen shows that to fully enjoy a relationship, it has to be kept hot and worth the wait. Of course, a wasabi might sting a bit but it adds that special touch in the dish – and this is where the petty things that often cause misunderstanding are to be seen and appreciated with maturity – that despite the tears and pains, this strengthens the marriage through the years. God made meals for us humans to enjoy, to savor and to learn from.
