What if?

What if…

It was 2:20 this morning when I was woken up by our new puppy. Just in time to make coffee for hubby, tea for me, and watch the T20 World Cricket match between South Africa and Bangladesh, one of the semi-final matches.

For those of you who don’t know, the T20 (twenty overs a side) format was introduced way back in 2003. Since then, there have been nine World Cup tournaments. This was the first time that South Africa has made it to the semi-finals. For South African cricket lovers, this is huge, as we are only ranked 5th in the world.

What a match it was! In the end, and after a few more cups of coffee and tea, it was a win for South Africa, and with that, we reached the finals for the first time in the T20 World Cup format.

What triggers this post of mine is not only the achievement and excitement but also the pondering. What if?

"What if?" This is a question we often ask when imagining different possibilities or alternative outcomes for current situations. It allows us to explore different scenarios and consider their impact on our lives.

“What if” becomes a type of speculation that can be both exciting and, make no mistake, thought-provoking, and with that, it can open up a world of endless possibilities.

"What if" prompts us to reflect on the paths not taken and consider how they may have shaped our present circumstances. Ultimately, it makes us think about the way our choices and actions might have influenced our future. I don’t know about you, but I often ponder over the choices I’ve made.

“What if women were allowed on the Johannesburg stock exchange when I wanted so badly to become a floor trader?”

“What if I didn’t listen to my mom and not locked my car doors the day I was nearly hijacked at the traffic light of a busy intersection?”

“What if I was not late picking up my stepson from school and, by doing so, missed a head-on collision between two cars?”

What if… What if… What if…

That brings me back to the cricket of early this morning.

What if Rashid Khan, the captain of Bangladesh, believed in himself and reverted the noise he heard to the third umpire? Would it, in the end, have changed the outcome of the match to a win for Bangladesh?

What if a "no ball" was not bowled by Bangladesh, which in the end led to a six? Could it have kept South Africa out of the final?

One thing is certain, we will never know the answer to our “what ifs.” Therefore, it is best to embrace the "what if" of our lives and embark on an adventure of endless imagination.

What is important is not to dwell too much on the "what if" situations, as it can lead to unnecessary worry or anxiety. Instead, we should use them as a learning opportunity and a way to think creatively about different possibilities.

I cannot help to wonder what my "what if's" are going to be after the finals. I suppose that only time will tell and in the end my endless imagination might just get the upperhand again.

Congratulations to your country. I don’t really know much about cricket sports. I’m more of a football fan and I know South African is one country that keeps disturbing my beloved Nigeria all the time.

But speaking about the “what if”, I just thought of my steemit experience the early times I joined and how hard it was to get an “upvote”, how I and my friends concentrated more on steemhunt to get something tangible. After leaving for years and returning back I’m seeing a lot of things has been put in place to make sure people get upvote but you still see people abandoning their accounts n going back to facebook…

Now, i asked myself; “what if” I’d not experienced the hard times in the early period of steemit, I would have been among the people abandoning their accounts in just a short period of time..

Life is really funny!!

I feel so sad for the Proteas. This was their first final after so many heartbreaks in the previous semi finals. If you read my latest post, I have shared my views.

What if Klassen hadn't played a lose shot and took his team to victory. What if Miller had cleared the boundary. What if....

Yip! There are many "if's" like that video that is now making the rounds on social media showing that South Africa was "robbed" as they put it.
BUT in the end we had it in our pocket and we let it slipped.
Congrats to India!

I have been following cricket from my childhood days and it’s for the first time that I am so much excited regarding this World Cup because my favourite South Africa has entered the finals. Congratulations to you and your country. South Africa has been a fantastic team for decades now and it deserved to play World Cup final after all the team has a complete package of players in every department.
Hard work pays off and South African players have really worked hard to outplay their opponents and reach the final. It really is a great achievement for them. Congratulations once again and well wishes for the final.

Ah! So we are two peas in a pod.
I also started watching cricket at a very young age. As I always say, cricket is in my blood!
Thank you for your good wishes. We can only keep our fingers crossed that all will be well for us.

Only one more sleep, and we will know who this year's World Cup winners are.

You must have really had a very busy and stressful day

Indeed! (•ิ‿•ิ)
Now it is over but the "if" continue... What if?

We are the hope!

I think they should have called us humans, "what ifs." (•ิ‿•ิ)
In the end, it makes us humans who we are—an interesting species.

Just imagine how boring life would have been if we had no thoughts.

Thank you for the visit and the engagement!

Congratulations to your country's cricket team whose outstanding performance today earned them the opportunity to play in the finals for the first time. Hopefully they will create a history by winning the final match this time. Here, the semi-final match was concluded with South Africa vs Afghanistan. Best of luck to SA.💖

Thank you for the visit and the good wishes.
Awh, I cannot wait for tomorrow!
Let's just hope that the match lives up to its expectations. With India as the opposition, it is not going to be smooth sailing, and both teams need it badly.

So its generational chokers vs chokers of the century!!! 😅😅😅😁🖤

Oh gosh! I did not even think about this. (•ิ‿•ิ)

😅😅 I am Just kidding right? I am waiting for a great finale, the two uneaten sides of the tournament

Oh yah, you were just kidding. (•ิ‿•ิ)

Well, what a final! Well done to India. South Africa had its chances and was clearly on the way to victory, but, yah, it did not happen.
Now that brings me back to that "if."
What if SA didn't run and Miller kept the strike?
What if the 3rd umpire zoomed in to Suryakumar Yadav's feet?

It was just a reminder of that video clip you sent me. You don't want to play against India as you are not only playing 11 men.

Well, the last two world cups were all about India! To be honest with the presence of players like Kohli, Rohit, bumrah and this entire co they totally deserve the World cup. The way they played in this editions, pooh, there's no doubt about that. but the bCCI is insanely intervening the process, messing with the sanity of the game. As in the video if this continues the game will globalize, but will lose the love from many.

I blame you guys! It was yours, especially after the show from Klassen. Just 30 from the last 5 overs with 6 wickets remaining. That's crazy, and shocking! What if Klassen had some patient/ Mahraj went for some shots/ definitely the catch?

Anyway happy for Kohli and Rohit. And sad for you guys, especially for Miller and De Kock, man I love those two.

Oh yes! You are absolutely right. We only have ourselves to blame.

The "if's" don't matter. It is the actual game that matters.

It is sad to see guys leaving, but soon they will be replaced with new players, which will steal our hearts. (•ิ‿•ิ)
