IFC finals - first round: Out Scavenging Again. Got it all this Time!

What I Found
I liked this challenge; it was a great way of introducing my steemit blog to my lover. I wasn't sure what she would think of me running a blog (I always feel like a douche when I say that I have a blog). However, she thought its cool that I do this and was totally down for doing the scavenger hunt together. So, most of the things were pretty accessible to me already, so we just kept our eyes peeled for the harder things, like the gold coins and wizard hat. Thank you, IFC for making the first final round something that allowed us to interact with others, because we had a great time when we found something!
Clouds
The hardest part of this one was holding my camera up with one hand and holding the paper with the other without dropping the phone lol Second hardest part was waiting for a day that wasn't overcast.
Animal
On Sunday, I went to my lover's home, and she has a cat, named Sora. I have terrible cat allergies, but I just kinda deal with it when I go to her house. It sucks being allergic to animals because I am so good with them. For instance, Sora usually hates people, but she cuddles up to me just fine 😄 She is, however, not as photogenic as her mother, or at least, she does not like to smile lol
Pyramid
I searched high and low for this one on Sunday in vain. All I came across was an illustration of the Pyramids on children's book. I thought that was pretty lame, so it wasn't until I was coming home yesterday that I saw this umbrella. It is in a pyramid shape! Holy crap, I did not expect to see this lol
Garden
My school has a vegetable garden, and I often go home with peppers or lettuce. So, this one was unexpectedly easy for me.
Plush toy
My BB-8 plushie that I got for Christmas a couple of years ago. I also found a bunch of toys on Sunday.
Guitar
My Dobro guitar that I bought shortly after I arrived in Korea.
Bridge
I live near the Yongsan river, so there were quite a few bridges to choose from for this one. I decided on this one because if I want to ride my bike to the newer part of the city, I have to take this.
Gold coin
I would have no idea where to begin to look for a real gold coin. Antique shops and gold exchange places are not that common as far as I know in Korea. All I could think of is some shops within the subway stations, but I am sure they would not allow photography without buying. Soooooooo, the only other idea I had was gold chocolate coins.
It was my lover that found these; I wasn't even thinking of it when we were in the bookstore. So, a big thanks to her for paying attention to the candy section, because I was keeping my eyes peeled for a wizard's hat.
Star
For this, I have some erasers in my desk that are prizes for students, and some of them happen to be star-shaped. I also could use stickers or the background behind Sora, even lol
Tattoo
My lover has a few tattoos, so this is her favorite. An elephant represents intelligence, memory, and good fortune to her. Hopefully, it brings us some luck in the finals here 😂
Reflection
This one needs a little explanation. I have a desktop for my classroom and a big screen positioned behind me. So, I set the big screen up as a second monitor/desktop, so I have two things going on at the same time. I keep the mirror on my desk, so I can see what is going on the big screen without having to turn around.
A funny thing happened last week. We started watching 'Jumanji' in class, so I put it on the big screen while I worked on things on the desktop monitor. However, when I hot-keyed the subtitles to appear, I hit the wrong key at first, so it flipped the image on the Y-axis. I didn't notice this because I saw it in the mirror, so it looked normal to me. It wasn't until class ended and I put it back to start, and I see that 'Sony' is backwards, oops...
The normal reason I have this set up is so I can have the normal presentation on the board in English, then I will have the grammar and vocabulary in Korean on the big screen. So, I don't have to explain it in Korean everytime I do a lesson, and students can make the notes in Korean if they need the translation.
Mask
This mask is something that I got for a rave I went to last year. It also reflects lights, which is cool.
Rainbow
I used this same pride bracelet last time for the something heart-shaped, and it is back again as my rainbow colored thingy 😊
Crystal
Okay, I don't have any rock crystals, and I had no idea where to find one. So, my solution to this problem, make my own crystals out of sugar! I won't go into details on how I made it in case others are still looking for their own crystal, but it was fun to make and see grow 😄
Castle
This one was my kind of corner cut to finding it. I had a children's book about a prince. So, there is a castle in the story, and I just took a photo of the illustration.
Wizard hat
One of the hardest ones to find in this challenge, a wizard's hat. When we were at the bookstore, I was searching the Harry Potter books and Tolkien novels looking for Dumbledore or Ganondolf to be wearing a hat. To no avail, though, did I find a wizard with a hat in the books. I searched the fantasy section, but apparently, wizards just aren't cool anymore... 😟
Then, I found this display of figurines, and I saw... my wizard, my savior of this challenge, and he was wearing the stereotypical hat of wizards, just what I needed. I yelled out to my lover that I found a wizard in Korean, and everyone around us must have thought I was crazy, but whatever lol She, on the other hand, did not find what she was looking for in the store, a book on Satanism. Rather funny that those are the things we walk into a bookstore looking for, some would say they are the same thing lol
Then, I came to school yesterday and on the cover of the Harry Potter book I have here is a freaking wizard with a hat... seriously, what the hell...
Alien/UFO
Now, when I was teaching at the high school in my hometown, we read War of the Worlds, by H.G. Wells and did some projects about the aliens. So, when I finished and got some thank you cards from students, this student drew me an alien on the Cover. On the inside in London with a UFO coming to crash land in a field. Never thought that I would be using this card to help win a scavenger hunt lol

I love myself a good Canadian chocolate coin! :)
I actually didn't try them, we just snapped a photo and kept going. It says they are milk chocolate on the sign, back home usually these are made by Balmer, and that chocolate is terrible.

I'm really glad to hear that you two were able to have a fun little adventure! :) One of the other contestants took their kids out and had a fun time as well! That's really cool to me how people can do this quest and others with their family or friends or kids or.. Lover. Thanks, man! IFC is kinda my hub world for the rest of Steemit. Without this, I might have just burned myself out thinking of things to write. But this community has helped me brainstorm a lot and in a way, helps me prepare if I ever want to get more serious with my writing and do journalism or something in that vein. Used to writes for magazines back home and each week or two I get an assignment and that's exactly how IFC feels, though I did local events, so I had to do a lot more interviews.... back when I had a seven-inch red mohawk lolz. I appreciate that people took me seriously though.

So the reason for the chocolate coin shortage in the Philippines and in Alaska is because Korea is hording all the coins. Both @Artgirl and I tried to find them to no avail, now we know why. Looks you had a lot of fun also. That looks like one long bridge to ride across.

haha, there was also a candy store that had a big cylinder for like 25$. I was not about to get that much chocolate though. Yeah, the river is wider than it is deep so they need it like this in case of flooding.

You know that "nasty" looking cat made me laugh out loud and forget abt a witness vid I just watched. Grumpy cat better run for it's life now.
I had a crystal growing kit when I was a kid and that's how I remembered I could do this.
The reflecting is very subtle, it is best when it is dark and like bright colorful lights.

I have never seen a cat with such a serious/angry expression before :D The scavenger hunt is bringing out some very interesting information about the contestants and I am enjoying all the posts!

The guitar looks cool. Great thinking on the crystal. Really resourceful. Well, that is the purpose of this hunt, I think. Good thing you have some of the things ready and accessible.
I guess I have to retire it after the winner of this season is announced lol, but you don't know when you may need it for another round lol!
