Topic:- Majority of people believe that social networking sites have had had a huge negative impact on both individuals and society. To what extent do you agree?

Introduction:- Being active on social networking sites is a common trend these days. Individuals and society are believed to be negatively affected by the presence of these websites. On the contrary, in my perception, both people and communities have reaped benefits from sites such as Facebook and Twitter. This essay focusses on the advantages and disadvantages of these websites.

To begin with, there are multifarious benefits of using these social websites such as Facebook and Twitter help people remain connected with friends. As people spreading moments of their lives on them so their friends are updated. For instance, if somebody posts photos of his latest journey his friends automatically get notifications of this adventure. Also, people are updated on the latest events in the society and around the globe. A case in point is online presence of many media companies which keep feeding breaking news through social media”, consequently, individuals are aware of what is trending in the news. Lastly, nowadays people distribute their feedbacks and experiences of products and services they use. So the companies are aware of customers' experience which can assist them in improving the product’s quality or service and society benefits from it.

Nonetheless, it cannot be denied that owing to social networking sites people are undermining the relationships. They have decreased meeting friends in person. This can impact the society negatively in long run as people will not value each other as they used to in the past when they met personally and shared genuine affection. Apart from this, these connecting websites have brought numerous cyberbullying that are especially faced by girls even sometimes it becomes the case of suicide and any other criminal activity.

To conclude, social networking sites have multifold legitimate pros that are outweigh the cons. From staying in touch with plebians, who are living miles away to sharing feedback on services, these websites have far reaching impact on individuals and society. Nevertheless, people should be literally awarded about negative consequences of this.
