MEDIA Protocol - Web Tokenized
When the web first started out, it was just as other things that we had invented in the past. We always found some way or the other to monetize it or warp it to better suit our benefits and make it more and more accessible for the masses so that this effect can be exponentially multiplied. There would always be that one individual or company that would think of solving a problem or bringing about a change in the industry while making it more profitable for themselves and the same happens in the Digital sector too. This is just the hard truth and basically the innate nature of a human being that we must all accept. There's no other way to put this lightly. Do note that I don't mention that this is bad or condemn them in any way.
So, one such field is the Internet, where a lot of middlemen exist in getting you what you want. They are the ones that you go to or they approach you with anything that you'd want and there is no easy way to directly connect with the content creators that they like. This was a fundamental problem that cannot be solved with the presence of the multitude of middlemen.
Also, it requires us to submit our personal details and facts in order for us to even use the platform. This and the fact that these middlemen get to leverage any rules that they want makes it very centralized. They even tend to get to decide who gets what and they collect lots of data and usage statistics that the content owners that actually would benefit the content creators to better understand and develop their content. There is also the fact that for a product to reach a wider audience and to gain more coverage, the content creator has to pay the middlemen for it along with paying for using their platform.
There is no one single player out there to blame for this. If we were to blame anyone for this, then we would have to change the basic fundamental and framework of how the Internet works.
The middlemen, in short, hold a monopoly in what should be a direct connection between the User and the Creator.
MEDIA Protocol Platform
With the implementation of blockchain to URLs by this project, we get to make the choices that we'd like. First, content creators no longer have a middlemen to work with and this solves most of the problems that we've mentioned above. Also, it provides a higher layer of transparency and provides the content creators with the data that they deserve. This also lets the user use the platform and then gain tokens that would let them make purchases, subscriptions and pay for the services that they use, while the creators get their full share of revenue with no fee taken like before.
ICO & Team
They have introduced a token that basically links to the URLs that we all use to browse the web. It is an Ethereum based ERC20 Token. Also, they have mostly decided not to conduct an ICO.
I believe there's no need for an ICO and it's best to avoid having a TGE where possible, only conducting them in cases where financial aid is needed to fund the further development of the process and not having an ICO doesn't make it a bad project in any way.
They've got a really diversified and well-experienced team consisting of Blockchain Devs, Data Scientists, Backend Devs and supporting them is another large group of advisors consisting of experts and veterans of their respective fields and one way or the other connected to the online infrastructure.
They've also managed to partner with many players and have churned out a product or such, showing that their concept works as intended.
Conclusion
There are many player in this field, but all focus on certain aspects that affect the creators that we discussed above, but taking the chance to completely remove all the middlemen in the field. This field has a great potential and the project has a large chance of success, since taking the fact that it gives the creators the much needed data and revenue that they deserve without having to pay for it.
But that said, they face a lot of competition from both the new blockchain and the well-established traditional players in the field, and they should not just ignore them.
In all other ways, they've got a great team, concept and backing to achieve what they want.
